About Me

Erin Wunderlich is a second-year master’s student studying Science and Technology Journalism at Texas A&M University.

In addition to being a graduate teaching assistant for biomedical writing courses, she reports on science & research news for Texas A&M’s The Battalion. Topics of her reporting include space, environment, veterinary medicine, conservation biology, paleontology, engineering, physics, and more.

Erin most recently concluded an internship with the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, where she covered museum discoveries, natural history research, and collections news for Smithsonian Magazine’s blog, Smithsonian Voices.

Recent freelance work includes reporting on highlights of the 2024 AAAS National Association of Science Writers Annual Conference, where she summarized the contents of  the virtual-only session, “Nonhumans as Characters: What to Do When Your Subjects Can’t Speak to You.”

As a science journalist, Erin’s goal is to bridge the gap between complex scientific topics and public knowledge responsibly and ethically, while highlighting the wonders of the natural world.

She has always been fascinated with animals, the natural environment, and technological innovation —which likely stems from childhood summers spent binge-watching Animal Planet and How its Made. In her free time, you can find Erin riding horses and exploring nature with a film camera.
